Self Love

Today my son celebrates his 4th birthday. It’s not just his celebration, but mine too. A celebration of my body, my being, through which this incredible creation was born.

His arrival into the world was wonderful, magical, painless. Throughout the entire pregnancy, I prayed to God who is within me—to that energy that created both me and him. To the love we carry inside ourselves. We all carry it within. Unfortunately, we are more disconnected from this energy of love than we are vibrating in harmony with it.

We disconnected because we carry unexpressed feelings—emotions connected to traumas in our lives. I was one of many, standing in the very same energy of victimhood. I saw the world through the lens of injustice and lack of love in my heart. I lived in my head, and closed off my heart.

The world mirrored exactly what was happening within me—through problems and obstacles, but also through opportunities that led me on a path of self-discovery.

It wasn’t easy, but it has been—and still is—the most important journey I have ever taken. Every fall brought me understanding, tears, laughter, strength, will, and the desire to keep going... I learned how to feel again. To feel all the emotions I had deprived myself of—fear, anger, sadness, guilt. The more I allowed myself to look into my subconscious and see the programs I had created, the ones that toxically defined my life, the more I realized my own worth and opened my heart to love, forgiveness, acceptance… of myself.

Unexpressed emotions are energetic blocks stored in our organs, linked to trauma we’ve experienced. Because at the time of the event we didn’t allow ourselves to fully express our feelings, these negative vibrations—low-frequency emotions—settled in our bodies. These unexpressed emotions are what disconnect us from our bodies. The mind and body are deeply interconnected. The mind’s primary function is to express the needs of the body… to release energetic blocks that manifest as events and challenges in our lives—challenges that are here to teach us to feel the very emotion we once suppressed.

My awakening brought me back into connection with my body… and my body responded to the love I opened up to. I opened my heart to myself. To myself as a goddess, whom I began to revere.

This love can be felt and lived when we are connected with our body. When we are authentic, living in the here and now, and most importantly—when we allow ourselves to feel.

Celebrate your bodies, for they are beautiful, feminine, divine. They give life and connect us to love—to God. This connection can be experienced through our body… and that connection is ecstasy.

But more on that next time…

With love,
